With almost 80 members, Pack 55 is one of the largest Packs in the District, and we take pride in the programs we deliver to our Scouts. Almost all our Scouts are 1st – 5th graders at St. John’s Episcopal School.
Our goal is to foster the Boy Scouts of America’s vision of building our youth into conscientious, responsible, and productive boys by instilling in them lifetime values and developing ethical character traits as expressed in the Cub Scout Motto, the Cub Scout Promise, and the Law of the Pack – – which you can see in the right hand column of this page. We want to create an environment that fosters a sense of community while keeping Scouting fun.
We currently have 3 Tiger Dens, 1 Wolf Den, 2 Bear Dens, 1 Webelos I Den, and 2 Webelos II Dens. Each of the Dens are led by an adult Den Leader and at least one adult Assistant Den Leader. All are trained and current in their required training. Pack 55 sets aggressive training expectations for our parent leaders – – called Akelas – – that meet or exceed the goals of the Boy Scouts of America. Our sons deserve trained leaders, and our leaders deserve to be trained.
Our Scouts usually have 1 to 2 Den meetings a month and at least one Pack meeting or Pack activity a month. Pack meetings are held one Tuesday night per month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the St. John’s cafeteria. We believe our leadership, adult participation, organization, camaraderie, fun, and programs differentiate our Pack from other organizations. We are funded primarily through yearly dues and Scout popcorn sales in the Fall.
Annual Pack activities include:
Although we encourage participation in District-led and Council-led activities and camps, we currently do not schedule activities as a Pack during the summer.
